In the Beginning

"And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good."

Many years ago, in 1993, a family was born in Southeast Iowa in a town called Mediapolis upon the marriage of two very dear souls: Mr. Charles & Mrs. Lois Massner. The groom was an engineer at General Electric in Burlington, and the bride a businesswoman from Hancock, Minnesota. God looked upon this union and saw that it was good.

After only a year, the young couple found that a void existed in their lives, so God gave them a little girl, whom they named Stephanie. This daughter of theirs brought a special joy to their lives, but God had even bigger plans. A year later He sent another child, this time a son, who was named William but called Billy for short.

Little Billy and Stephanie enjoyed each other's company for two more years before God saw fit to send yet another child. This was once again another son who earned the name Jonathan. The family very quickly had grown to five members who all lived in an understood love for one another. A girl and two boys was surely a handful for two parents, but yet there were meant to be more.

Before the family could expand again, however, some infrastructural expansions had to be made. Mr. & Mrs. Massner found a peaceful location to raise their family on the other side of town, and built themselves a home to be filled with memories through the coming years.

Two years after Jonathan's birth, yet another son came from Heaven to join the family's ready arms. His name was Justin. Though Stephanie was disappointed by the realization that she still did not have a sister, she and the others welcomed sweet Justin as a younger brother and playmate.

Once again, after two more years God looked down and saw need to send another beautiful son to bless the Massner family. His name was called Travis. The family of seven was happy to abide with one another. And four years later, mother looked and saw that it was good.

But God said, No. Yet another son I shall give you. They asked, Another son? And God declared, Let it be so. And God sent a dear son who they called Jesse. Jesse was a wonderful addition to the family. And the family now was eight.

The family abode together for the following years, sharing in its joys and in its woes. They created memories that would stand the test of time. They played together, sang together, laughed together, and cried together. They were a family: a happy family, content to stand together to the end.

And God looked down on the work He had done, and, behold, it was very good.
