In the Spirit of Christmas

Welcome to December! It is hard to believe we are down to the final month of 2012! To reflect our anticipation of Christmas, it may be evident that I have updated the blog scheme. Here at home, the tree has been decorated and lighted, the Christmas cards are ready to be mailed, the December calendar is almost full, and, of course, Christmas music fills the chilly air. There's no snow yet, but that's perfectly all right. I think we are officially ready for this holiday.

Jesse helped me decorate the Christmas tree last Friday!
The past week at college was busy, but it went well and it seems everyone has a renewed energy as the end of the semester is now in sight. Besides finals, I only have one more small project, an exam, and a couple more small assignments before classes end. (After writing that, I realized maybe  that is more than I thought it was...but it will almost all be finished after Tuesday.)

Not a whole lot really seems to have changed around here in Mediapolis since I left last Sunday. Mom went up to Coralville on Thursday to do some shopping and has been trying to prepare for Christmas. The basketball season has begun for Jonathan and Travis, and that's been keeping them occupied. Billy's senior pictures came in this week, so it was exciting to see those. Justin just got home from a LEGO League tournament, and Jonathan is working on a project at a friend's house.

Billy works on homework while Mom does some Christmas research.
He wanted me to show everybody a picture of his calculus homework...
Last night, Billy sang for me a great song he made up this week about a red convertible. The only words I could make out were "my red convertible," but maybe that was just because they were repeated more than twenty-three times while he played two beautiful chords as accompaniment with Travis on two keys on the high end of the piano. In all, it was a pretty impressive arrangement.

Jesse discovered last night that we have a lot of art supplies at our house, and has been working on new creations ever since. After his water paint job, I could have mistaken the kitchen table as an astounding abstract mural, but he is most certainly becoming quite the artist! He even helped me decorate the Christmas tree last Friday.

This is one of his pictures...our house. The left is the floor layout and the right is the front of the house.
The other three boys have also also kept entertained by making origami ninja stars from Youtube demonstrations.

Travis displays the stars by Jonathan (far right), Justin, and himself.

The only creative project I've worked on this week was a partner assignment for my Computer Analysis class to design a website. I will add a link to this post after the project is graded, so check back in another week. But for now, I need to use my creative talents on my Spanish homework.

Back to the spirit of Christmas, I hope we can spend this entire month celebrating the real spirit of Christmas, as we remember the birth of Christ the King who came to be our Savior! Have a great week!
